Home, the first front in fight against dengue
KARACHI: Scholars and experts at a dengue awareness conference stressed that the fight against the virus should start from home and its surroundings.
Speaking at an Anti-Dengue Day event held at the Jinnah University for Women (JUW) in collaboration with the Sindh Health Department, experts said that anti-dengue sprays are effective against adult mosquito's while the larvae on the other hand remains unharmed even in a teaspoon full of water.

KARACHI: Additional IG Traffic, Ghulam Qadir Thebo announced on Wednesday that motorcycle rickshaws have been banned in Karachi.
He said that the decision to ban the Qingqi rickshaws was taken after the disclosure that stolen motorcycles were being used in the rickshaws.

Barack Obama calls in lawmakers on political crisis

Washington: President Barack Obama Wednesday announced plans to invite all Republican and Democratic lawmakers to the White House to talk about the bitter impasse which shut the government and could throw the United States into default.
Obama will begin the process by meeting minority Democrats from the House of Representatives later on Wednesday, a White House official said.

US withholds Egypt military aid over crackdown

The US is suspending a large part of the $1.3bn (£810m) in aid it gives to Egypt's military.
The delivery of large-scale military systems as well as cash assistance to the Egyptian government would be withheld, said the state department.
It said "credible progress" must be made towards free and fair elections.
